Villa Vuoranta, located in the waterfront area of Vilsandinkuja in Vuosaari. The building complex, originally used as Alko's training center, was converted for use as a care home whilst retaining the integrity of the protected buildings.
The renovation of the building complex, designed by architect Helmer Stenros in the 1970s, is a successful example of preserving modern and protected buildings while changing their use.
The project, which included radical changes due to the new use and involved repairing structures such as severely damaged reinforced concrete structures, facade masonry, and terrace and roof structures, all while respecting the original architecture.
Villa Vuoranta now serves as an advanced care home environment for its residents, operated by Päiväkumpu Oy. The zoning change project for new construction in the area is progressing, taking into account the architecture of this main building and the original solutions of the property complex.
